Wills

Why do I need a will?

The vast majority of people put off making a Will for a variety of reasons, either believing that the people they would wish to inherit will automatically do so, or because they don’t think it is relevant to them at this particular time.

The reality is that you can put off making a Will until it is too late and this poses all sorts of problems for the people left behind and could mean that some or all of your inheritance either goes to the wrong person or to the state.

Making a will gives you the opportunity to plan exactly what will happen to your estate following your demise. This ensures that those you would like to benefit actually do so, in accordance with your wishes and at the same time avoiding any possible disputes between relatives.

What do we offer?

NATIONWIDE WILL DRAFTING SERVICE

We offer a convenient nationwide online telephone will writing service priced at Just £75.00 for a basic Single Will and just £125.00 for a basic Joint (mirror) Will.

Unlike many other online Will writing companies we do not use automated online will writing software, at MPH legal we offer a full personal service to our clients.

How does this work?

Simply call our office on 01752 822437 to arrange a telephone consultation. We will take your instructions, gather all information needed to draft your will and then take your payment. We will then produce a draft will for you to check, then once it is approved we will send your new bound will directly to you (next day delivery) along with full signing instructions.

To book your free consultation or for more information please call us on 01752 822437.

FREE HOME VISIT WILL DRAFTING SERVICE

As well as offering an online telephone will writing service, we also offer clients who live locally, a home visit service where clients can have their instructions taken in the comfort of their own home.

Priced at just £100.00 for a single will and just £150.00 for a mirror will, this is a huge saving compared to prices charged by high street solicitor's firms.

We offer a comprehensive Lasting Power of Attorney Service. We will discuss your individual requirements and give you professional advice on making a Lasting Power of Attorney, complete your Lasting Power of Attorney forms for you and guide you through the complicated signing and registration procedure.

Trusts

Trust planning is a very specialised area of law and have been around since medieval times, originally created for Nobility and wealthy land owners to avoid paying taxes to the Crown. Whilst Trusts have changed substantially since then, Trusts can still reduce or eliminate inheritance tax payable and will increase the amount of inheritance passed down to your children.

The Five Threats to your Estate

Divorce
With almost half of marriages in the UK ending in divorce have you ever considered what would happen to your inheritance if your children got divorced in the future?

Marriage after Death
If your partner re-marries everything you leave to them will become jointly owned with their new spouse. Have you considered what would happen if that new marriage breaks up?

Long Term Care Fees
1 in 4 of us will require long term care at some point in our lives. If you own more than £23,250 in assets you are liable to pay all of your care costs, even if you have to sell your family home to do so.

Inheritance Tax
It’s estimated that £1.3bn is paid every year in inheritance tax. With simple Estate Planning you can reduce or possibly eliminate the tax you pay.

Bankruptcy/Creditors
Without proper Estate Planning, what you leave to your children could be swallowed up by creditors if your children or their future partners, were to get into financial difficulty.

If you would like a consultation regarding protecting your assets, please call the office on 01752 822437.

Probate

Probate is a term applied to the official proving of a will and the right to deal with the affairs of the person who has died or to administer the estate. The process of administering the estate of a person who has died can be complex and confusing. Our legal associates at Countrywide Tax and Trust Corporation can assist at every stage including:

  • Applying for a grant of probate or letters of administration for you
  • Dealing with tax issues
  • Dealing with issues in the will or to do with intestacy
  • Guiding you in the collection in and distribution of the assets and helping you to administer the estate.

Funeral Planning

Many people shy away from discussing their funeral arrangements with family and friends, so making a Will is a good way of letting people know whether you wish to be buried, or cremated and any specific requests you might have for your funeral service.

However, it should be noted that your Executors are under no obligation whatsoever to carry out funeral wishes requested in your will. One way to guarantee your wishes are met is to set up a Guaranteed Funeral Plan. Here at MPH legal we offer pre-paid funeral plans in association with Golden Leaves.

Pre-planning gives you the peace of mind of knowing that the arrangements you particularly want, will be conducted sensibly, in dignified respect to your wishes. Pre-paying now will save you, your family or your estate a great deal of money. Bought now at today’s prices, the Funeral Director’s costs are guaranteed no matter when it is needed or how much the costs of a funeral have risen in the meantime.

A Golden Leaves Funeral Plan is a secure way to pre-plan and pre-pay for your funeral. This is not an insurance policy as some plans are. No health check is required and no personal questions need to be asked. Anyone can take out a Golden leaves plan and at any age.
